Mansion Toastmasters Club, Rotary Centre, Burlington, kicked off the new season with a “Great Experiences” theme. Each of members who attended this evening had an opportunity to express what “Great Experiences” meant to them personally through various impromptu talks and through their assigned roles.
Lisa M. our ASA for the evening began the meeting and introduced our Chair for the evening, Steven S. who acknowledged everyone including our guests and brought our attention to our agenda. He shared his thoughts and experiences on the theme and at the same time, kept things moving along with everyone who had specific roles assigned for the evening.
To begin, our a Toast was given by Carissa T. which reflected on thoughts of having Great Experiences.
The Table Topics session provided a excellent exercise for six random volunteered members to do a one minute impromptu talk on a hand selected topic given by the Table Topics Master for the evening, Lisa M.
The word of the evening “Spontaneous” was presented by our Grammarian Paul M.
Chris N., and Shelley O. presented their most heart felt and intriguing speeches. Mansion Toastmasters Members provided their comments and voted on the Best Speaker of the evening. Lorraine D. evaluated Chris N. and Sarah H. evaluated Shelley O.
Awards of the Evening were presented to Paul M. for winning “Best Table Topic” Speaker and to Sarah H. for winning “Best Evaluator” and Chris N. for “Best Speaker”.
“Spirit of the Mansion” was presented to Marianne M. for stepping up and taking on last minute major roles for the evening.
Rob C. reminded everyone that the Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contests will be held at the Mansion Toastmasters Club on September 28, 2016.
Our Chair, Steven S. adjourned the evening promptly at 9:30pm. Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, September 14, 2016.
