Mansion Toastmasters: “Times are Changing”

Mansion Toastmasters offers a fun, friendly and energetic environment for members and guests to hone effective personal communication and leadership skills.

At Mansion Toastmasters, members improve by practicing speaking roles as well as by receiving encouragement and constructive feedback from fellow members and guests. A Toastmasters meeting provides many opportunities for those present to participate, a little or a lot, in a mutually supportive and non-judgmental forum. Club leadership positions are also available for more experienced members each term.

Changes are part of life, and we all need to work together as a club to embrace change, which we will all remember and cherish. This will enable us to both grow as individuals and as a club. We have many exciting initiatives planned for this year, including regularly scheduled education sessions and the continuing growth of the mentoring program. By being open to change we can enjoy the now and look forward to the future. This will allow Mansion to become a stronger club better able to serve our members and our community.

When Mansion Toastmasters first chartered they were located at Paletta Mansion, but as we all know times do change and with that change we moved to Rotary Youth Centre on Guelph Line. Mansion Toastmasters through changing times has maintained the excellence that the name is synonymous with.

When I joined Toastmasters, I knew I needed to improve my speaking performance. I had developed several bad habits when speaking in front of groups, and I often had difficulty communicating effectively with my business clients. I was incredibly nervous when I attended my first meeting at Mansion Toastmasters. Once I arrived and had the opportunity to meet some of the members, I saw firsthand what a supportive group it was, and quickly joined. It did not take long for me to notice a change. Within the first several speeches, my communication skills had improved and my confidence soared. I was able
to further hone my leadership skills by taking on various meeting roles and joining the club executive team.

Toastmasters International informs us that global membership is 352,000 strong, with 16,400 clubs in 141 countries. For more information, visit the Toastmasters International website at: www.toastmasters.org.

Mansion Toastmasters membership is open to all over 18 years of age. Meetings are Wednesday evenings, September through June, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m at the Rotary Youth Center, Central Park in Burlington, Ontario. Arrival by 7:15 is requested, especially for guests, so we may provide a welcome and some additional information about Toastmasters. We look forward to meeting guests to our club as we embrace our theme for the year TIMES ARE CHANGING, starting Wednesday, September 6th, 2017. It promises to be exciting.

Come join us!
